An official ceremony for the christening of the two barges, delivered to Executive Agency \u201cMaritime Administration\u201d within Project \u201cImprovement of the transport safety
\nin the common Bulgarian-Romanian stretch of the Danube river through development of the
\nemergency response by cross-border cooperation\u201d- Danube Safety Net, eMS code ROBG-522,
\ntook place on 11.05.2022 in Ruse, Bulgaria.<\/p>\n
The newly supplied barges will be operated by Executive Agency \u201cMaritime Administration\u201d in
\nconducting emergency-response activities for combating disasters and accidents on the Danube
\nRiver.
\nThe specialized vessels are strategically situated in the ports of Ruse and Lom and their scope
\nof operation will cover the common Romanian-Bulgarian stretch of the Danube river.<\/p>\n
The barges were presented during an official ceremony today, in the presence of the general director of the INTERREG V-A RO-BG Programme, Ms. Nicoleta Mincu, the coordinator of the project \u2013 Mr. Rumen Nikolov, the General director of the Romanian Naval Authority \u2013 Mr. Cosmin Dumitrahe, the Executive director of Executive Agency \u201cMaritime Administration \u2013 Capt. Ventsislav Ivanov. The godmother of barge DSN-R, with port of stay Ruse is the deputy governer of Ruse Municipality Ms. Zlatomira Stefanova, and the executive director of the Association of the Danube municipalities \u2013 Ms. Mariya Tsankova is the godmother of barge DSN-L, with port of stay \u2013 Lom.<\/p>\n
\u201dProject \u201cImprovement of the transport safety in the common Bulgarian-Romanian stretch of the
\nDanube river through development of the emergency response by cross-border cooperation\u201d-
\nDanube Safety Net, eMS code ROBG-522 is being implemented under the INTERREG V-A
\nRomania-Bulgaria Programme 2014-2020 and its main objective is to improve the safety of river
\nDanube navigability for the whole length of the common stretch between Romania and Bulgaria.
\nPartner in the project is the Romanian Naval Authority and Executive Agency \u201cMaritime
\nAdministration\u201d is the lead Partner.
\nAmong the expected outputs from the implementation of Project Danube Safety Net are: better
\nsynchronization of emergency response activities on the Danube, improved capacity of rescue
\nteams, shortened time for reaction in case of calamity events.
\nThe overall project budget is 5 699 612,87 euro, from which 85% are from ERDF and 15% are
\nnational co-financing<\/p>\n
