Executive Agency “Maritime Administration” added two new barges to its fleet
An official ceremony for the christening of the two barges, delivered to Executive Agency “Maritime Administration” within Project “Improvement of the transport safety
in the common Bulgarian-Romanian stretch of the Danube river through development of the
emergency response by cross-border cooperation”- Danube Safety Net, eMS code ROBG-522,
took place on 11.05.2022 in Ruse, Bulgaria.
The newly supplied barges will be operated by Executive Agency “Maritime Administration” in
conducting emergency-response activities for combating disasters and accidents on the Danube
River.
The specialized vessels are strategically situated in the ports of Ruse and Lom and their scope
of operation will cover the common Romanian-Bulgarian stretch of the Danube river.
The barges were presented during an official ceremony today, in the presence of the general director of the INTERREG V-A RO-BG Programme, Ms. Nicoleta Mincu, the coordinator of the project – Mr. Rumen Nikolov, the General director of the Romanian Naval Authority – Mr. Cosmin Dumitrahe, the Executive director of Executive Agency “Maritime Administration – Capt. Ventsislav Ivanov. The godmother of barge DSN-R, with port of stay Ruse is the deputy governer of Ruse Municipality Ms. Zlatomira Stefanova, and the executive director of the Association of the Danube municipalities – Ms. Mariya Tsankova is the godmother of barge DSN-L, with port of stay – Lom.
”Project “Improvement of the transport safety in the common Bulgarian-Romanian stretch of the
Danube river through development of the emergency response by cross-border cooperation”-
Danube Safety Net, eMS code ROBG-522 is being implemented under the INTERREG V-A
Romania-Bulgaria Programme 2014-2020 and its main objective is to improve the safety of river
Danube navigability for the whole length of the common stretch between Romania and Bulgaria.
Partner in the project is the Romanian Naval Authority and Executive Agency “Maritime
Administration” is the lead Partner.
Among the expected outputs from the implementation of Project Danube Safety Net are: better
synchronization of emergency response activities on the Danube, improved capacity of rescue
teams, shortened time for reaction in case of calamity events.
The overall project budget is 5 699 612,87 euro, from which 85% are from ERDF and 15% are
national co-financing
